So today I found myself reflecting upon the year gone so far and more importantly how good the last month or so has been for myself and my photography. This has all come about with my nomination in the photographer of year category in the UK rolling awards, of which has totally caught me off guard. I’m so very honoured to be named alongside such a talented list of photographers in the category and think its amazing to finally see photography in blading finally recognised by the UK rolling awards.
The nomination has been the cherry on the cake of the last few months and seeing work of mine displayed on some of the biggest blading media platforms has been nothing short of amazing. Getting to see my good friend Leo Oppenhiems interview finally show face in issue 9 of Wheel Scene was a proud moment for me both professionally and personally. I can’t thank Dave at Wheel Scene for believing in me and my work from issue one.
Making a break into ONE has taken a lot of hard work over several years but its been well worth it. The Recent front cover shot and interview in the second digital issue really did blow me away. In my eyes this can only be topped by the fact that earlier in the year I had managed to get published in the physical magazine for only the second time ever. All of this slightly overshadows the regular photo journals on the ONE website that I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to do. Thank you Justin.
These are not the only people to have laid faith in my work as Be-Mag have continued to support me and my work through the websites features. Jon at Clac magazine entrusted me with shooting Joe Atkinson for a feature that was seen in their last issue. The profile was not the first time I have been published in Clac but is my crowning achievement with the french magazine. I’ve been building a good relationship with Ru who is the editor of a brand new and exciting action lifestyle magazine by the name of Bleach. Having had work featured in their first two magazines and images already shot up for the third issue has just been more proof to myself that I made the right choice in sticking with what I love doing.
Its been a crazy month and an insane year but its not over yet. Even with what has already happened this year and beyond that, I still find it hard to wrap my head round the oppitunities that present themselves too me. Currently being out shooting projects with Slap Taps Matt Smith and Stephen Swain is something I never would have though possible a year ago but now is a reality. I’m looking forward to wrapping both of this up soon and seeing what the future hold for me.
Big thank you everyone who has ever got in front of my lens and trusted me to capture them doing what they love to do. Thank you so much to all of the people who have put their trust in me and my images for their magazine, website or whatever, I never have expected it and I’m totally humbled by it all. Thank you to anyone who put me forward to be nominated in the UK rolling awards and those that have voted for me. If you haven’t voted yet get on it now to crown the best of the year in our scene x
